Cision Selects DataFlux for Master Data Management

Release date: 10/14/2009

Effort will focus on creating universal version of the truth for media records

Cary, N.C. (October 14, 2009) — DataFlux, a leading provider of data quality and data integration solutions, today announced that Cision, a global provider of media research, distribution, monitoring and analysis services to the public relations industry and other communication professionals, has selected DataFlux® technology to power its upcoming master data management (MDM) initiative. Cision will use DataFlux solutions to integrate and de-duplicate media data from various sources.

This Cision Media Database is widely known as a comprehensive media research resource, with detailed information about almost one million media contacts, updated on an average of 18,000 times each day. As the media services company continues to grow, it will use DataFlux’s core technology – the DataFlux Data Quality Integration platform – to integrate records from new and existing legacy databases into a master data repository, enabling one version of the truth across the board.

"At Cision, we recognize data as a critical corporate asset," said Scott Thompson, senior vice president of information technology at Cision. "We are continually striving to improve our data quality processes and provide the highest quality data in the industry. The DataFlux solution is a critical component of these processes at Cision."

During the primary data integration process, DataFlux technology will cleanse and standardize records within Cision’s existing service-oriented architecture (SOA) in real-time using batch processing techniques, after which the records will be migrated into a master repository. The migrated data will eventually be customer-facing and used in web services transactions to deliver better results to its clients.

"When the success and evolution of your company is contingent upon the information you provide, data quality becomes a critical requirement," said Tony Fisher, president and CEO of DataFlux. "Our software is designed to be intuitive and flexible, allowing Cision to build data services centrally and then propagate these services throughout the organization. The end result is that Cision will have consistency in business process execution across their enterprise."
