DataFlux Enhances Data Governance Efforts with Business Rules Monitoring

Software release provides enterprisewide auditing and validation of data quality

CARY, N.C. (April 11, 2006) — DataFlux, a leading provider of data quality integration solutions, today announced the general availability of an update to its core software platform. DataFlux® Data Quality Integration Solution 7.1 adds the ability to identify and correct operational inefficiencies through continual enforcement of business rules. By monitoring data through customizable rules that govern acceptable levels of data integrity, organizations can audit and validate the quality of corporate data on an ongoing basis – and improve the accuracy of business processes.

With this release, business users can create and enforce customized rules to monitor data-driven processes across the enterprise. These rules can include validating numeric calculations, detecting unexpected variances, testing domain values against a list of acceptable values or validating data before allowing a transaction to continue. Once violations are detected, the monitoring engine triggers a set of events, such as automatically correcting the data, notifying users of rule violations or logging the data to the DataFlux repository for further examination.

Business rules – generated using DataFlux dfPower Studio and stored in a business rule repository – can be extended via service oriented architecture (SOA) to provide a “check” against bad data as it enters applications within the enterprise. In addition, the monitoring capabilities collect the data that fuels dashboards to help data stewards and business analysts respond more quickly to changes in the integrity of mission-critical data.

Other product enhancements available in the DataFlux Data Quality Integration Solution 7.1 include enhanced data enrichment processing. The 7.1 release provides an option for distributed processing of processor-intensive data enrichment processes (address verification, geocoding, etc.) that require interaction between the DataFlux Integration Server and third-party data sources.
