Leading investment firm utilizes DataFlux technology to remain ahead of the curve.
CARY, N.C. (December 16, 2008) — DataFlux, a leading provider of data quality and data integration solutions, today announced that Pioneer Investments has selected DataFlux technology to analyze, monitor and integrate its financial data. By incorporating the DataFlux Data Quality Integration Platform, the organization is able to take a more proactive approach to data management.
“Data management is of the utmost importance in the financial services industry, and data profiling and data monitoring are very actionable ways to ensure you’re addressing data quality,” said Jeff Shortis, chief data officer of Pioneer Investments. “With DataFlux, we are able to validate our data expectations in advance and successfully integrate the data into the appropriate databases. This frees up staff and, in turn, our IT budget – valuable resources which can be utilized on other priority IT projects.”
Pioneer Investments’ fund managers and analysts tap into a variety of worldwide sources in order to formulate fundamental and quantitative research. Prior to implementing DataFlux, the organization’s IT department made assumptions about the compiled data and built interfaces accordingly. However, when integrating information into its databases, the team often discovered that the data did not meet expectations, requiring IT staff to reconfigure and rebuild the interfaces – a timely and expensive task. The company selected the DataFlux Data Quality Integration Platform to analyze the data at the onset, validate data expectations and, ultimately, monitor its databases to recognize out-of-norm data conditions.
“DataFlux technology offers a tremendous benefit for investment firms like Pioneer Investments because it allows organizations to be proactive, rather than reactive,” said Tony Fisher, president and CEO of DataFlux. “In today’s economic climate, it is critical to focus both monetary and personnel resources on projects that can make a tangible difference. Through a single interface that allows customers to both investigate and correct poor-quality data, our technology provides the knowledge to understand the quality of business-critical data at the outset of any IT initiative.”
