DataFlux Federation Server
DataFlux provides integrated views of data located in multiple repositories without the need to physically consolidate the data. This virtual integration enables powerful querying capabilities, as well as improved source data management. Data federation efficiently joins data from many heterogeneous sources, without moving or copying the data. The result is improved performance and speed, while reducing costly and labor-intensive data movement and consolidation.
An Integrated View from Multiple Data Sources
DataFlux Federation Server enables organizations to view data from multiple sources through an integrated, virtual data view. While the data remains stored in its source application, multiple users can see integrated data – without physically moving or changing data. The data appears as if it were physically integrated in one place, either as a table, file or web call.
Federated data capabilities available in DataFlux Federation Server include:
- A central location for setup and maintenance of database connections
- Access to common database systems, including Oracle, DB2, Teradata, SQL Server and MySQL
- TCP/IP server access
- ODBC and native drivers to connect to data sources
- Access permission that allows only specific users to access and control data
- Ability to reference data from disparate data sources with a single query; DataFlux Federation Server also includes its own SQL syntax to provide consistent functionality – independent of the underlying data source
- Creation of a layer of abstraction over physical data that can be stored in any data source
Benefits
Information-driven organizations need to access and query data from multiple sources, and provide users with a single view as necessary. By creating a virtual data layer, the resulting view serves as a single data store for management and analysis. A federated data view enables demand-driven access to operational data, transactional data, data warehouses and other sources of information.
- Reduce IT costs with support for various database vendors, web service standards and other sources
- Lower development and maintenance costs by developing the integrated view once – and using that view many times from a single location
- Gain real-time access to operational data
- Reduce analyst time by interfacing with a single virtual store without the need to make infrastructure changes
- Query data that exists in multiple systems, without requiring cumbersome and costly data movement or replication
- Optimize query response time as a result of the improved workload management
- Create a single and uniform data view within DataFlux Data Management Platform
